Filling the Chairs
Written By: Carl Langefeld
“And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Luke 10:2
Based on the official U.S. Census Bureau, Kernersville has shown remarkable growth. Since 2000, the population of Kernersville has grown by 52.7%. More recently, Kernersville has grown an average of ~550 individuals each year from 2015 to 2024. Some of these individuals are moving here and breaking ties to their previous church home. Some have never had a church home. Some may be starting a family and recognizing for the first time they should have a church home. Some may be “searching for God.” Some may be all alone or their family has needs. Almost surely, you know of some of our new neighbors, and maybe you are one of them. Each one of these individuals is a precious soul for whom Jesus died and offers salvation by faith alone.

We believe that God is calling us to EXTEND THE TABLE for a reason. Not for our comfort and enjoyment but for growing His kingdom. The scripture verse above, Jesus said that the harvest is great, but the workers are few. That is certainly true in Kernersville.
Pray earnestly that He allows us to expand the table for our neighbors, new or established, so that the Holy Spirit can work faith within them.
Pray earnestly that He enables us to be welcoming to any and all who want a seat at His table with us.
Pray earnestly that we can help meet their physical and spiritual needs.
Closing thought for mediation and prayer:
God, how will you use me to help fill the empty chair at the table? How will you use me to serve their needs?
